Du Yibiao, a ranger working at the Xishan forest farm, has been guarding the forest on the observation tower at an altitude of 1,580 meters on Sanfeng Ridge in Xiyao Township, Linwu County, for 25 years. He has kept more than 4,000 observation records, and detected and dealt with over 100 fire cases in Linwu and surrounding counties. Over the past two decades, the forest farm where he has been safeguarding has reported no forest fire cases. Du is reputed by the locals as “a guardian of mountains”, and was selected as a candidate for the “Chinese moral models” in this August.
