September 7, 2021 marks the 91st anniversary of the birth of Yuan Longping, the “Father of Hybrid Rice”. Li Yuchong and Xiang Zhi’an, two post-95 youths, spent 6 days creating a giant portrait of Yuan nearby the test rice field where Yuan had worked, at Donghu Neighborhood, Furong District, Changsha. The portrait presents Yuan’s two dreams – to "enjoy the cool under the rice crops taller than men" and that hybrid rice would be grown all over the world to help solve the global scarcity of food – to honor Yuan Longping.
