Hunan Governor Mao Inspects Yongshun and Yuanling Counties

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, made an inspection tour to Yongshun and Yuanling counties on September 1 and 2. Mao stressed that we must thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping’s important speeches made when inspecting Hunan and seize the opportunity of the to-be-opened Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua Railway, to promote cultural tourism recovery, speed up clean energy development, and contribute to achieving carbon peak and neutrality goals.

Deng Qunce, secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, accompanied him on the tour.

Mao Weiming said that Furong Town is a famous scenic spot. After the opening of the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua Railway, the scenic spot will achieve new development. Mao added that we must improve the overall style of the ancient town, improve tourism infrastructure, provide high-quality tourism products and services, and transform the advantage of its unique resource into high-quality development superiority. Longxing Temple in Yuanling County was built in 628 AD. It is the oldest and best-preserved wooden building complex in Hunan. Mao pointed out that we must protect, repair, and make good use of historical and cultural heritage, so that the excellent traditional culture and splendid Hunan culture can be carried forward in the new historical period.

Yuanling, one of the top ten hydropower bases in China, is rich in hydropower resources. Mao Weiming visited the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Fengtan Hydropower Plant and Wuqiangxi Hydropower Plant of Wuling Electric Power Co., Ltd. to learn about the water level, storage capacity, and installed capacity, and spoke highly of the achievements the two hydropower stations have made during the summer period this year. He emphasized that hydropower stations are important outposts for flood control. Mao said that we must always adhere to safety first, strengthen daily management and inspections, make adequate preparations for flood prevention and dam maintenance, and ensure sufficient supply of electricity; we must speed up clean energy development and contribute to achieving carbon peak and neutrality goals.

Taiwan-funded enterprise--Hunan Chilisin Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. is a world-renowned manufacturer of passive electronic components. According to the person in charge of the enterprise, choosing Yuanling as the corporate locale is attributed to the favorable business environment of the city. The move led to more than 10 upstream and downstream enterprises settled in Yuanling. Mao Weiming urged that we must take the establishment of a "five-good" industrial park as a goal, increase investment attraction, provide quality services, cultivate skilled talents, optimize business environment, introduce upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain and supply chain, and accelerate industrial cluster development.

Mao Weiming stressed that we must make effective and flexible use of ten policies and measures on supporting consumption-related enterprises while implementing regular epidemic prevention and control measures. This will help cultural tourism, transportation and logistics, catering and accommodation enterprises to overcome difficulties, improve weak links in infrastructure and public services, and promote the recovery and development of enterprises. Efforts should be made to give full play to the combined effect of the flow of people, logistics, capital and information of the high-speed rail; deepen reforms to streamline administration and delegate power, improve regulation, and upgrade services; create a market-oriented, legalized, and international business environment; cultivate industrial clusters in transportation, logistics, and electronic information; and, establish an integrated and coordinated industrial ecosystem. It is necessary to make use of the unique cultural, tourism, and ecological resource advantages of western Hunan, intensify the construction of tourism infrastructure, enrich the supply of cultural tourism products, strengthen the cultural tourism industry, and encourage the people to start businesses and increase income.
