On September 1, the Ministry of Commerce published on its official website a list of the first batch of 13 national processing trade industrial parks. The Changsha Processing Trade Industrial Park was on the list.
In April this year, the ministry issued a notice on the application and identification of national processing trade industrial parks. It proposed cultivating and building a number of national processing trade industrial parks. The Changsha Municipal Commerce Bureau actively organized the application work, in a bid to boost the transformation and upgrading of processing trade in Changsha.
Located in the east of Changsha city proper, the Changsha Processing Trade Industrial Park covers an area of 47.54 square kilometers. It includes three national parks, namely the Airport Block of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area, Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone and Liuyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (or High-tech Zone).
Based on current development foundation, the industrial park will make all-out efforts to forge an industrial development pattern featuring 1 pillar industry (electronic information) and 4 characteristic industries (construction machinery, biological medicine, automobiles and parts, and intelligent equipment manufacturing).
According to statistics, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), Changsha's total import and export volume of processing trade totaled 22.34 billion USD, accounting for more than 50% of the province’s total, with an average annual growth rate of 34.3%. The city has nearly 70 processing trade enterprises.
The approved Changsha National Processing Trade Industrial Park adds a new “national title” to Changsha. It will significantly enhance the influence of the city’s investment attraction, strengthen processing trade enterprises, and promote the transformation and upgrading of processing trade.
