On September 1, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, went to Huaihua City and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, to learn about the construction progress of the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua Railway. He asked to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech made when inspecting Hunan Province, and do well in the follow-up inspection and acceptance procedures. He called for creating a demonstrative project, building high-quality railway, and ensuring standardized, legal, and high-quality opening, so that the majority of passengers can get access to the most beautiful high-speed rail and appreciate the mysterious Xiangxi. He believed that this would help accelerate the high-quality development of the grand western Hunan areas and lead a high-quality life.

Governor Mao and his party departed from the Huaihua South Station, took an inspection train, and checked the stations of Mayang West, Fenghuang Ancient Town, and Jishou East along the way. Governor Mao was happy to know that the project is progressing smoothly and will be opened within the year. He noted that the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua Railway is a golden tourist route connecting Xiangxi’s fantastic mountains and rivers with mysterious ethnic customs. The areas along the railway should highlight the integration of red or revolutionary traditions, green ecology, and antique styles; amplify and exert the driving effects of the high-speed rail in different categories; plan to build new high-speed rail towns; develop the high-speed rail economy; and, build characteristic high-speed railway stations and yards. The railway will convey the concept of “one station, one scene, one characteristic, and one kind of culture”, to better display Chinese elements and national characteristics to the world.
