The 14th National Games will be held in Shaanxi Province between September 15 and 27. On the morning of August 26, the sports delegation of Hunan Province to participate in the 14th National Games was established in Changsha. Governor Mao, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, extended his greetings to the athletes, coaches, and staff members to the National Games, and congratulated the Hunan athletes for their outstanding achievements at the Tokyo Olympics. He noted that the 14th National Games is to be held this year when China celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and at the time when China is building a well-off society in an all-round way. The grand sports event is an arena for reviewing the comprehensive strength of sports in Hunan province. It is also a grand stage to showcase the spiritual outlook of both Hunan athletes and people. He expected the Hunan delegation to keep its mission in mind, live up to the trust, and display the spirit, strength, and style of Hunan.
The 14th National Games features a total of 35 sports, with 409 events under 52 categories. There are 342 Hunan athletes qualified for the final stage of 170 events under 22 categories. They have advantages to win gold medals in weightlifting, boating, wrestling, judo, badminton, women's water polo, synchronized swimming, and track and field. In addition, there are about 950 athletes who have participated or are preparing to participate in the offline mass events under 18 categories at this National Games. They now have won the second place in the women's futsal group A and the fourth place in the men's futsal group B.
