According to the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology on August 26, the Yueyang Lingang High-tech Zone intelligent manufacturing equipment innovation industry cluster, Changde major complete equipment manufacturing innovation industry cluster, Xiangtan wind energy innovation industry cluster, and Loudi constructional engineering machinery manufacturing innovation industry cluster were selected into the 2021 innovative industrial cluster pilot list of the Ministry of Science and Technology. There were 43 industrial clusters selected in total. Hunan, Guangdong, Shandong, and Hubei tied first place in the number of selected industrial clusters in the country.

In recent years, China has taken high-quality development of innovative industrial clusters as an important strategic support for the in-depth implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy and the construction of a modern economic system. China has given priority to fostering 100 national innovative industrial clusters based on the exiting pilot industrial clusters. It aims to cultivate a number of innovative industrial clusters with large scale; key core technologies; complete industrial technology systems; integrated development of small-, medium- and large-sized enterprises; and, a leading role internationally and domestically. Hunan is making active efforts to integrate itself with national strategies, deploy innovation chains based on industrial chains, lay out industrial chains based on innovation chains, and focus on the construction of a "3+3+2" modern industrial technology system. The province strives to tackle problems in core technological research, promotes engineering applications and industrialization of technological achievements, continues to improve industrial innovation capabilities, and accelerates the cultivation of innovative industrial clusters.

In the future, Hunan will give full play to the industrial cluster role of national high-tech industrial development zones, strengthen innovative services and business guidance, and support high-tech industrial parks in cultivating internationally competitive scientific and technological enterprises and industries. Efforts will be made to enhance industrial innovation capability, upgrade the industrial base, and modernize industrial chains, so as to build a batch of world-class innovative industrial clusters.
