On August 22, the Hunan Audit Office announced that the “14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for the Development of Audit Work in Hunan Province” was officially issued. During the period, Hunan province will intensify auditing in the four aspects of “policy”, “performance”, “security”, and “the people’s livelihood”.

The “policy” auditing will mainly strengthen the follow-up audit of policy implementation, and the follow-up effect on the implementation of the provincial “14th Five-Year Plan” and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.

The “performance” auditing will mainly improve the authenticity, legitimacy, and effectiveness of budget execution and financial management in fiscal audits, so as to improve the performance of fiscal funds. It will strengthen government investment audits, and deepen the reform of investment and financing system to promote the improvement of investment performance.

The “security” auditing will mainly strengthen state-owned enterprises and financial audits to prevent and resolve major risks; and, strengthen agricultural and rural audits to ensure the safety of food and important agricultural products.

The “people's livelihood” auditing will mainly focus on the people’s livelihood safety and improvement levels, whether the basic livelihood bottom line is secured, and the progress of the multi-level social security system; further strengthen resource and environmental audits, focusing on green and low-carbon development, eco-environmental quality improvement, and resource utilization efficiency improvement.
