On August 17, Xie Jianhui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, visited medical workers at the Zhangjiajie City People’s Hospital, a designated coronavirus-treating hospital, via video link in Zhangjiajie. On behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Xie expressed respect and greetings to those fighting on the front line of the battle against the epidemic.

As of August 17, Hunan Province has dispatched 1,387 medical workers to support Zhangjiajie, including 158 provincial experts, 994 nucleic acid sample collectors and analysts, and 235 epidemiological investigators. Xie listened to the report on the work of medical experts and rescue team members. 

"You are warriors who are racing against time in combating the novel coronavirus. I’d like to give you a thumbs up!" Xie Jianhui said. She added that in this world the heroes are just ordinary mortals. Facing the epidemic, medical workers reacted swiftly to the commands and fulfilled their commitment of putting the people’s interests and their lives and health first. They were iron fighters in the fight against the epidemic while protecting the health of the people. Their heroic deeds were worth learning

Xie Jianhui hoped that medical staff will carry forward the tenacious style of work round the clock, continue to take swift, strict, and targeted epidemic prevention and control measures, and use superb technology, scientific attitude, and professional quality in medical treatment. Xie hoped that they will go all out to treat patients to achieve the goal of "zero severe cases and zero hospital infections". Xie urged medical workers to protect their own safety while working hard to treat patients, and help win the battle against the epidemic.
