The Changsha Customs data released on August 10 shows that, between this January and July, Hunan’s total import and export value reached 312.09 billion CNY, making a year-on-year increase of 26.8%.
The exports to the ASEAN countries and U.S.A kept growing, while that to Hong Kong shrank slightly. In the first 7 months, Hunan-ASEAN trade value increased by 19.6% to 48.86 billion CNY; Hunan-U.S.A trade rose by 102% to 44.52 billion CNY; and, Hunan-Hong Kong trade hit 28.34 billion CNY, down by 3.2%. During that period, double-digit growths were seen in Hunan’s trade with 27 EU countries (not including UK), Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) partners, and the Belt and Road countries.
The export of mechanical and electrical products stood out. It has a total value of 95.83 billion CNY in the first 7 months, taking up 45% of the province’s total exports in that period. Electronic components and electrical appliances export surged. The export value of hi-tech products was 27.36 billion CNY, up 28.5%. Growth was also seen in the export of shoes and other labor intensive products.
Between January and July, Hunan’s import of mechanical and electrical products declined by 11.8%, while that of ore sand and agricultural products achieved a relatively rapid growth.
