On August 8, Xie Jianhui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, hosted a video conference on the work scheduling of the provincial joint prevention and control mechanism in Changsha. At the meeting, participants learned to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on current epidemic prevention and control and the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. It also carried forward the spirit of the national teleconference on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, and the work arrangements made by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.

Executive Vice Governor Xie pointed out that the epidemic prevention and control is related to the overall national strategy, the safety of the people's life, and the high-quality development. It is a major concern of the country, and the top priority of current work. The anti-epidemic work has entered the most critical and toughest moment. We should attach greater importance to conscientiousness, tighten strict measures, avoid exhaustion and war-weariness and perfunctory management, and ensure that we must never slacken our joint response and resolutely win the battle against the pandemic.

She emphasized that the measures should be pragmatic and meticulous. It is necessary to:
-strengthen accountability of the leaders in charge, the health commissions, the grassroots communities and the public;
-Implement such major issues as epidemiological investigation, quarantine management and control, nucleic acid testing, screening and supervision, information reporting, publicity and guidance, hospital infections prevention, and vaccination;
-Pay close attention to the problems pointed out by the State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism Working Group and the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Supervision Team, and rectify them;
-Ensure that cities and counties with no cases continue to maintain “no cases” and “no infections”, the cities and counties with cases achieve “without spreading”, “no new cases”, and “a quick cure”; and,
-Give full play to the role of the joint prevention and control mechanism, mobilize all departments, coordinate joint actions, and conduct overall operations.
