A promotion conference for the 2nd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, and also the China-Africa Economic and Trade In-depth Cooperation Pilot Zone, was held in Guangzhou on July 29, 2021.
Hunan Vice Governor He Baoxiang, Guangdong Vice Governor Zhang Xin, Rwandan Ambassador in China James Kimonyo, and officials of the Trade Development Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce addressed the conference.
Attendees also included the representatives of the Consulate General of some African countries in Guangzhou, including Angola, Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Cote d’lvoire, Mali, Senegal, and Uganda.
Hunan Vice Governor He made invitations to businessmen and others to the expo. He noted that, the expo is the first national-level international regular event of economic and trade cooperation that is undertaken by Hunan. Hunan will make all-round efforts to elevate organization and service level for the expo, to build a world-class international cooperation platform for Chinese and African governments, local authorities, think tanks, enterprises, and financial institutes.
Guangdong Vice Governor Zhang said that, Guangdong Government will sent high-level delegations, and encourage local enterprises to participate in the expo. Guangdong will strive to promote joint development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Area, and Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone, together with the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the China-Africa Economic and Trade In-depth Cooperation Pilot Zone.
James Kimonyo spoke on behalf of African countries. He mentioned that, during the five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Rwanda and China, the two counties have achieved fruitful results of cooperation in various fields. Rwanda will participate in the expo in a more vigorous manner.
Eight project agreements were reached at the conference, worth 830 billion USD.
Hunan Vice Governor He met with James Kimonyo before the conference, and inked a letter of intent on establishing friendship ties at provincial level between Hunan and Kigali, the largest city and capital of Rwanda.
