A Hunan-born designer participated in the uniform design for Chinese athletes at Tokyo Olympics.

The Chinese delegation uniforms, with the theme of "making a good start" were designed by a team led by Xiangtan-born designer He Yang, president of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and a team led by Yang Hui. The uniform features a stand-up collar, five-star graphic patterns, and peony patterns, displaying elements of traditional Chinese aesthetics. Combining traditional Chinese culture with fashion elements, it presented well to the world the etiquette and spirit of modern Chinese sportsmen and sportswomen.
