The China (Hunan) – 4 African Countries Economic and Trade Promotion Conference, also a round-table meeting, was held in the Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone on July 23, 2021.
Delegations of the Kenyan, Rwandese, Tanzanian, and Ugandan embassies in China attended, and communicated with representatives of more than 60 Hunan enterprises.
Edward Waweru Kimani, deputy head of the Kenyan Embassy in China, noted in his speech that, African countries and some Hunan enterprises have made close contacts, and the China-Africa Economic and Trade International Exchange Center has been founded in Hunan. These would effectively boost economic and trade interactions between Africa and Hunan enterprises. He expected to establish friendly ties with Changsha enterprises, and jointly promote economic and trade development of both sides.
The Sansure Biotech and the Zoomlion introduced their products, projects in Africa, and future plans at the conference.
In recent years, the Changsha National Hi-tech Industrial Zone has expanded cooperation with African countries. In 2020, its trade with African countries exceeded 200 million USD, including 164 USD of exports and 37 million USD of imports. Kilimall, China’s largest cross-border e-commerce platform for trade with African countries, settled in the zone. And hence a lasting online China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was set up. The zone plans to invest one billion CNY to construct a China (Hunan) – Africa Economic and Trade International Exchange Center. It will be a headquarter office area, an exhibition and convention zone, a cultural exchange center, and an international cooperation platform, concentrating on serving China-Africa exchanges.
