The China-Europe freight train service in Changsha reached a new high since 2021, the Changsha Municipal People’s Government Logistics and Port Office said on June 20.
From January to May this year, a total of 282 China-Europe freight trains were operated in Changsha, up 91.84% from the same period last year. The cargo weight rose 66.87% from last year to 171,200 tons, and the cargo value increased 54.76% year on year to 929 million USD.
The numbers of China-Europe freight trains operated in Changsha in 2019 and 2020 were 411 and 530 respectively. Changsha has ranked fifth in China in this regard for two consecutive years, being in the front rank in the country. So far, Changsha has opened more than 10 regular routes to Minsk, Malaszewicze, Budapest, Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia and ASEAN, with 9 to 12 trips made every week. The China-Europe freight train network covers 29 cities in 14 countries, thus making Changsha the new frontier for inland opening-up.
