On June 1, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, made an inspection tour in the Hunan Provincial Health Commission. He stressed that we must thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech on hygiene and health, put people and their lives first, make unremitting efforts in regular epidemic prevention and control, and promote high-quality development of health care. He added that we must build a health service system that is in line with goals of economic and social development, meets health needs of the people, and matches with the rapid development of modern science and technology.

Mao listened to the report on the provincial epidemic prevention and control. He emphasized that we must use big data to develop a tightly woven and sturdy safety net to secure epidemic prevention and control, learn about COVID-19 cases updates, and make accurate analysis and control.

At the symposium, Mao Weiming said that since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the provincial health system has implemented the decisions and plans made by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and has made progress in epidemic prevention and control, poverty alleviation, people’s health care, and medical reform. This reflected the spirit of the health system, increased people’s sense of gain and satisfaction, and represented new achievements in building a healthy Hunan. 

Mao Weiming stressed that efforts should be made to promote high-quality development of health care, solve problems of pressing public concern, promote rapid development of the health industry, and advance the modernization of the health governance system and governance capabilities.

Mao Weiming said that at present, we must make unremitting efforts in regular epidemic prevention and control, maintain constant vigilance in guarding against inbound cases and domestic resurgences, strengthen civil, technology, and material resource defense, and increase vaccination rates to build an immune barrier. Mao said that localities, departments, units, and individuals should shoulder their responsibilities and improve emergency plans and mechanisms, so as to consolidate the hard-won achievements.
