As of May 26, 2021, 20.67 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Hunan. A total of 17.53 million people have been vaccinated.

Hunan is a populous province. The task is hard when vaccinating such a huge population in short time so as to build an immune barrier as soon as possible. The progress was relatively slow before May due to limited vaccine supply. Recently, as vaccines are in adequate supply around the province, vaccination work has been pushed forward at full throttle in a safe and orderly way. The inoculation number in recent 20-odd days was eight times more than the accumulative amount before May.

The daily inoculation number keeps rising. In early May, less than 100,000 doses of vaccines were administered daily. This figure increased to more than 1.33 million doses on May 25, and exceeded 800,000 doses for 9 consecutive days. Changsha, Yiyang, Changde, Hengyang, Shaoyang, and Chenzhou are capable of administering more than 100,000 doses. The highest daily inoculation number in Changsha surpassed 240,000 doses.

The accumulative inoculation number in 12 cities across Hunan hit 1 million doses. They are Changsha, Yongzhou, Loudi, Chenzhou, Yiyang, Huaihua, Changde, Yueyang, Shaoyang, Hengyang, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan. The accumulative amount of inoculations approached 3.5 million doses in Changsha, and exceeded 2 million doses in Yongzhou.  

The government authority has regulated vaccination management in order to satisfy people’s demands for getting vaccinated. Based on vaccination work procedures and concentrated and mass vaccination requirements, the vaccination procedures and management are being improved around the province. There are 2,914 medical institutions for vaccination and 87 mass vaccination sites in Hunan. Medical personnel strictly follow standard workflows to ensure a high-quality vaccination service. All vaccination sites are equipped with necessary medical rescue medications and facilities, and sufficient number of medical staff and volunteers, to ensure that people can get vaccinated safely and be free from undue concern. 

Recently, an increasing demand of getting vaccinated has been seen around the province. Healthcare authorities at all levels will further optimize vaccine dispatching, and extend vaccination service time, to meet people’s demands.
