The Yueyang Tourism Association joined hands with Hubei’s Jingzhou and Hunan’s Changde, Yiyang, and Changsha’s Wangcheng District tourism associations to establish the Dongting Lake Ecotourism Alliance on May 26, during the third session of the Joint Meeting of CPPCC Chairmen of the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone. The move aimed to promote constructive interaction and regional cooperation in cultural tourism industry, and ecotourism among the five places.
Since Hunan and Hubei provinces established a joint meeting mechanism, CPPCC committees of the four cities and Wangcheng district have focused on ecological environment management in the lake area, water ecological restoration, and industrial transformation and upgrading, and have effectively played the role of a special consultation agency and actively performed its duties, so as to contribute to promoting the green development of the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone. At this year’s joint meeting, CPPCC committees of the four cities and Wangcheng district concentrated on boosting cultural tourism industry in the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone, and promoted cooperation in this sector.
The alliance is centered on the "four cities and one district" and is composed of tourism authorities, tourism associations, and tourism market entities. With the aim of "joint contribution, shared benefits, and common prosperity", the alliance will establish new channels and platforms for regional exchanges and cooperation, and promote resources sharing, brand promotion, market interaction, tourist exchange, technology connectivity, and policy reciprocity. This will help promote high-quality development of cultural tourism in the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone.
The alliance will share tourism products and customer markets, develop quality travel routes, carry out cultural tourism promotion and marketing, and issue the "Dongting Lake Eco-tourism Card"; and establish a joint negotiation mechanism for cultural tourism development and build a think tank consisting of experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and academic institutions, to create an "aircraft carrier" for the cultural tourism industry in the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone.
