A national cultural ecology protection zone construction experience exchange meeting was held in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Prefecture on May 19. It was hosted by the Intangible Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism granted plaques to the first batch of 7 national cultural ecology protection zones, including the Wuling Mountain (Xiangxi) Tujia and Miao Cultural Ecology Protection Zone and Southern Fujian Cultural Ecology Protection Zone, and the Heluo Cultural Ecology Protection Experimental Zone, and Jingdezhen Ceramic Cultural Ecology Protection Experimental Zone. Representatives of the nine awarded units made speeches.

In recent years, Hunan has given full play to the advantages of its rich cultural heritage resources, integrated cultural ecology protection with all-for-one tourism, national education, targeted poverty alleviation, and rural revitalization. It has successively built one national cultural ecology protection zone and established three provincial cultural ecology protection experimental zones, promulgated four normative documents including the "Administrative Measures for Hunan Provincial Cultural Ecology Protection Zones", and compiled four special protection plans. A total of 580 million yuan of provincial special funds has been invested. Ten travel routes highlighting intangible cultural heritage were released. A total of 1,417 intangible cultural heritage exhibition halls, training centers, and employment workshops have been built, and more than 2,400 activities have been held in schools to promote intangible cultural heritage.

The two-day event also featured an exhibition on the construction of the Wuling Mountain (Xiangxi) Tujia and Miao Cultural Ecology Protection Zone.
