Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Regional Museum Alliance Established

A meeting to establish the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Regional Museum Alliance was held at the Changsha Museum on May 17.

The Declaration of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Regional Museum Alliance was announced and representatives from 40 museums discussed the purpose and long-term development of the Alliance. The Alliance and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Central South University agreed to cooperate in conducting research in the cultural heritage field.

There are more than 350,000 cultural relics and more than 1,000 professional curators at the museums in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. Among them are 7 comprehensive museums such as the Changsha Museum, 15 memorial museums such as the Memorial Hall of Mao Zedong and Hunan First Normal University, 14 theme museums such as the Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum, and 4 art museums such as the Xie Zilong Photography Museum.

The Alliance was established to coordinate resources and deepen museum cooperation. Its activities include research, publicity, protection, exhibition and utilization of historical and cultural heritage of the three cities; innovative services for cultural prosperity and cultural tourism integration of the cities; and, strengthening exchanges and cooperation among members of the Alliance in personnel training, academic research, exhibition cooperation, social education promotion, and cultural and creative development.

May 18 is International Museum Day. A touring exhibition, entitled “100 Years of Party History: Photo Exhibition of Revolutionary Relics" will be held at the Alliance museums from May 18 to October 8. It was planned by the China Cultural Relics News Agency and the Military Museum of the People’s Revolutionary, and undertaken by the alliance.
