Hunan’s foreign trade sustained its upward momentum. The Changsha Customs statistics shows that, between this January and April, Hunan achieved a total import and export value of 163.51 billion CNY, increasing by 27.9% over last year. The exports reached 110.34 billion CNY, up 32.8%; and, the exports amounted to 53.17 billion CNY, rising by 18.8% year on year.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remained Hunan’s biggest trade partner. Hunan’s trade with ASEAN stood at 24.26 billion CNY, accounting for 14.8% of the province’s total foreign trade volume. The U.S.A was the second biggest partner, with the bilateral trade sharply rising by 121.3% to 22.78 billion CNY. The trade with 27 EU countries (U.K. not included), and Australia saw growth, while with Hong Kong SAR achieved steady increase.
In the first four months, Hunan mainly exported mechanical and electrical, and high-tech products. Clothing export declined slightly. Shoes export saw a year-on-year growth of 35.8%. The import of metal and ore sand, and grain, made a relatively rapid increase. During these months, Hunan imported 3.48 billion CNY of grain, up 110.9% year on year.
