On May 7, the Hunan Intercity Railway Co., Ltd. announced, in Changsha, that a new train diagram of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway was put to use on May 8. It is the start of a regular public transport service.

In accordance with the planning of "commuting by metro inside the city and by railways outside the city", the stops have been optimized in the new train schedule. Presently trains from Changsha Station to Furong South Station stop, as subways do, at every station. In Zhuzhou and Xiangtan cities, the trains stop only at designated stations which reduces travel time. After 21:30 every day, there will be 8 non-stop trains from Zhuzhou South Station and Xiangtan Station to Changsha Station. Travel time will be shortened to 47 minutes and 37 minutes respectively.

There will be 100.5 bidirectional trains operating in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway line after the new train schedule is implemented. The scheduled average departure interval between Changsha and Muyun Stations will be 10 minutes and 18 seconds. Between Zhuzhou and Xiangtan it will be 21 minutes. A regular public transport service is basically achieved. The number of intercity trains going towards Changsha West Station has also increased significantly. The number of trains from Lugu to Zhuzhou South and Xiangtan Stations has increased from 21 bidirectional ones to 32. Four bidirectional trains going between Changsha Station and Lugu Station will be added.

The rush hour schedule has been optimized to meet commuters’ travel needs. Before 10:00 a.m. every day, there are 13 bidirectional trains departing from Changsha to Zhuzhou South and another 13 from Changsha to Xiangtan. The first Changsha, Zhuzhou South and Xiangtan trains depart at 6:00 a.m., about half an hour earlier than the prior schedule. The last train arrives at Changsha Station at 11:25 p.m., about half an hour later than before.
