Hunan Holds Gathering to Mark Accomplishments in Poverty Eradication

A grand gathering to mark  Hunan's poverty alleviation accomplishments and honor model poverty fighters was held at the Changsha International Convention Center on the morning of April 30, 2021.

Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, attended and addressed the gathering.

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, chaired the gathering.

Li Weiwei, chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, was present.

Secretary Xu and Governor Mao met with the model individuals and representatives of model groups before the event.

Wu Lan, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, announced the decision of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s government on commending the model poverty fighting individuals and groups.

The provincial leaders present included Huang Lanxiang, Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Feng Yi, Zhang Hongsen, Li Dianxun, Yao Laiying, Wang Cheng, Wu Guiying, and Liu Lianyu.

The gathering began at 10:00 am, with all attendees standing up and singing the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China.

According to the decision, 1,296 comrades, including Zhang Hongmin, were honored as model poverty fighters; 800 groups, including the CPC Committee of Sangesi Town, Longhui County, as model poverty fighting groups.

Secretary Xu and Governor Mao presented medals and certificates to the model individuals and representatives of model groups.
