An online exchange meeting on economic and trade cooperation between Changsha and Algeria was held in Changsha on April 26. Hunan enterprises, such as Hunan Sixth Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. and MeiG Smart Technology Co., Ltd., the Federation of Algerian Enterprises, and several Algerian enterprises carried out online communication and project promotion.

The Federation of Algerian Enterprises president said that Hunan enterprises are welcome to invest in Algeria. He hopes that more Algerian agricultural products will be exported to Hunan. More than 1,000 enterprises of the Federation can have wider and deeper cooperation with Hunan in agriculture and other fields.

Changsha can increase cooperation with Algeria in such fields as engineering construction, medical and health care, and communication and interconnection, a Changsha Municipal Commerce Bureau spokesperson said.

“Algeria, one of African countries, is a fertile land for investment with its relatively sound infrastructure, broad market space and guaranteed credibility," said Zhou Min, general manager of the Overseas Department of Hunan Eter Medical Co., Ltd. Last year, with the help of the Chinese Overseas Home, a comprehensive China-Africa economic and trade service platform, the enterprise learned of Algeria’s cooperation intention. At the online exchange meeting, the two sides confirmed that they will cooperate in the construction of medical gas projects. The company will take this opportunity to explore the North African market.

Algeria is the largest country in area in Africa. It signed the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement in early 2021. With the help of the Chinese Overseas Home and the Changsha “Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Zone” of the “Hunan Enterprises Going Global +” Integrated Service Platform, Hunan enterprises including Zoomlion, Sany and the China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corporation Limited have conducted economic, trade and investment activities in Algeria.
