Currently, the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hunan Province is effectively controlled. But sporadic cases have been reported in some part of the country and the epidemic situation is still severe and complex globally. It is necessary for everyone to maintain a constant vigilance in guarding against inbound cases and domestic resurgences. As the May Day or Labor Day holiday approaches, there will be an increase in the number of passengers, tourists, and gatherings. This is likely to increase infection risk. On April 23, Hunan Center for Disease Control and Prevention experts reminded the general public of paying attention to epidemic situation in the destination places and taking protective measures, to ensure a safe and healthy trip during the holiday.

First, pay close attention to epidemic situation and try not to travel to medium- and high risk areas or countries. As of 9 o 'clock on April 23, there are three high-risk areas and six medium-risk areas across the Chinese mainland, all of which were located in Ruili City, Yunnan Province. Do not travel to medium-high risk areas and don’t leave the country unless it is necessary.

Second, follow rules on epidemic prevention and control. Learn about relevant regulations of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control in the destination places in advance, and cooperate with the staff in epidemic prevention and control work such as temperature check and health QR code verification. Abide by scenic spots’ rules on online reservations and tourist number restriction, and devise itineraries to avoid peak times. People with high infection risk should take nucleic acid test, vaccinate against COVID-19, and reduce movements. Those who are under home medical observation are not recommended to go to public indoor settings, crowded places, and closed spaces.

Third, take personal protection measures. Carry a face mask with you at all times. Wear a mask, wash hands frequently, ventilate rooms frequently, and reduce gatherings. When taking enclosed transport vehicles, visiting crowded places, and contacting with others, keep a safe social distance and take self-protection measures, including wearing masks properly, washing hands and disinfecting frequently.

Fourth, strengthen ventilation and disinfection. Keep proper indoor ventilation. During the holiday, public indoor settings, transportation stations, and vehicles should be ventilated and disinfected frequently. Reduce the movement and gathering of personnel in vehicles.

Fifth, pay attention to health condition and seek medical treatment as soon as symptoms occur. In case of fever, dry cough, fatigue, diarrhea or other symptoms during the trip, please end the trip immediately and seek medical advice in time. Wash your hands frequently and cover up when coughing and sneezing. Those who return from a trip should continue to monitor their health. In case of any of the above-mentioned symptoms, seek medical advice in time and inform the doctor of relevant travel history. When going to the hospital, please avoid taking public transportation and take personal protection all the times.
