Recently the Hunan Provincial Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform officially issued a document to adjust the provincial poverty alleviation work organization upon the approval of the State Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform. The Hunan Provincial Rural Revitalization Bureau will be established, replacing the Provincial Poverty Alleviation and Development Office. It will be under the leadership and management of the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

The move is an important measure to consolidate poverty alleviation achievements and promote effective integration of the results and rural revitalization. It will provide a strong institutional mechanism for Hunan’s implementation of the rural revitalization strategy. 

In recent years, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform have faithfully implemented major decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee on poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, and attached great importance to the establishment of relevant institutions for poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

The Hunan Provincial Poverty Alleviation and Development Office has been adjusted from a public institution directly under the provincial government to a department directly under the government. It is in charge of organizing, coordinating, steering poverty relief work, and implementing targeted poverty alleviation measures. The provincial leading group office of rural revitalization strategy will be set up at the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs which is responsible for overall implementation of the strategy. The Development Planning Division and the Rural Industrial Development Division undertake specific tasks related to the rural revitalization strategy.
