The celebration of this year is themed on “building a charming new Hunan, and writing a new chapter in ecological restoration”. It focused on the key ecological restoration projects, such as the pilot projects along the Xiangjiang River and around the Dongting Lake, and ecological restoration of mining sites along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

The ten models are:
- Ecological protection and restoration of the mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes and grasslands in the Lengshuijiang antimony mining area in Loudi;
- Pilot of turning marginal farmland into forest and wetlands in Hengdong County, a part of the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake mountain, river, forest, farmland, lake and grassland ecological restoration project;
- Ecological restoration of the key international wetlands around the West Dongting Lake;
- Environmental treatment of the manganese mining sites in Xiangtan;
- Ecological restoration of the abandoned and open-air mines along the Yangtze River Economic Belt in Changsha;
- Ecological restoration of the mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes and grasslands along the Zhengshui River in Hengyang County;
- Ecological restoration and treatment of the Shuifumiao reservoir in Xiangxiang city;
- Geological environment improvement of the metal mines in Suxian District, Chenzhou;
- Ecological restoration and treatment of the mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes and grasslands in the manganese mining sites in Lingling County, Yongzhou; and,
- Ecological restoration of the abandoned and open-air mines along the Yangtze River Economical Belt in Zhuzhou.

An exhibition of the ten ecological restoration models will be held at the Yanghu Lake Wetland Park between April 22 and May 3.
