Hunan donated sugarcane harvesting equipment worth more than one million yuan to the Dominican Republic recently. The handover ceremony was held online from both Hunan Province and the Dominican Republic. Hunan Vice Governor Sui Zhongcheng, former President of the Dominican Republic Mejía, Minister Cruz of the Agriculture Department of the Dominican Republic, Chinese Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Zhang Run, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to China Garabito, and Director Cedeño of the State Sugar Council of the Dominican Republic attended the ceremony.

On January 20 this year, the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic signed an agricultural cooperation agreement. Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd. and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic signed a sugarcane harvester donation agreement. The donation was part of the implementation of the agricultural cooperation agreement of the two parties.

Vice Governor Sui said that since diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic were established more than two years ago, Hunan and the Dominican Republic have had several exchanges. The contribution of the sugarcane harvesters will inject new impetus into higher-level cooperation. He hoped that Hunan and the Dominican Republic will have further exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as agriculture, the economy and trade, humanities, education, and tourism, so that the collaboration potential will become broader and the friendship strengthened.

Minister Cruz thanked Hunan for its friendly donation. He noted that sugarcane is one of the Dominican Republic’s main crops and that the sugarcane harvester donated this time will improve harvesting automation and assist the Dominican Republic's agricultural technology innovation. He believed that through this cooperation, the brotherhood between the Dominican Republic and China will be further deepened, and the prospects for cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Hunan will be broader.
