Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and also former chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), visited Changsha between March 22 and 24, 2021.

During his stay in Hunan, Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee director, and Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, visited Leung and his entourage. Li Weiwei, CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee chairwoman, accompanied him on the inspection tour.

At Sany Group Co., Ltd., Leung learned in detail about the company's overseas market performance, intelligent manufacturing applications, and plans for the "digitalization and internationalization" strategic transformation. He said that in recent years, Sany’s product competitiveness and brand influence have been continuously improved at the international market, fully demonstrating the strength of China's manufacturing. There is huge potential for cooperation between Hunan and Hong Kong. He hoped that the two sides will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation and jointly fulfill the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

The “Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone Achievements Exhibition” presented by the Changsha CEC Software Park showcased well some of its major innovation achievements in the past five years. During the visit, Leung remarked that Hunan is an important industrial and manufacturing base in China, with strong technological innovation capabilities. He expected Hunan enterprises to grasp the opportunity that Hong Kong enjoys the status as an international trade center, to bring more Hunan products through the Hong Kong economic and trade platform to the global market, and actively integrate into a new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other.

Vice Chairman Leung also visited the China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Park, Yuelu Academy of Hunan University, and Orange Island for inspections.

Provincial leaders Zhang Jianfei and Zhang Dafang joined the visit or accompanied him on the inspection tour respectively.
