Secretary Xu thanked the CPC Central Committee International Department for its long-term guidance and support to Hunan. He said that in recent years, Hunan government has followed the overall arrangements of the national foreign strategy; completed the tasks assigned by the department; carried out international cooperation in epidemic prevention and control; and, done Hunan’s part to the Party’s foreign exchanges and the country’s overall diplomatic practice while continuously improved its opening up level to the world.

He continued, Hunan is rich in red revolutionary resources and is where the targeted poverty alleviation spirit initiated. Hunan government, in accordance with the direction guided by President Xi Jinping, has been vigorously implementing the Three Highlands and Four New Missions Strategy to build a modernized new Hunan. Hunan has many important windows on displaying the glorious history of the Communist Party of China and the vivid practice of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Hunan Province, for instance:
 
Shaoshan, the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, and Shibadong Village, a village-level poverty alleviation sample; 

industrial systems such as construction machinery and rail transit with greater global influence; and,

scientific and technological innovations including the ‘three supers’ – super hybrid rice, super computer, and super high-speed rail; and the ‘three deeps’ – deep sea, deep ground, and deep space exploration.

We expected the department to keep strengthening guidance, support, publicity and promotion for Hunan Province. We will, in light of the in-depth Party history learning and education, continue to undertake various tasks of the Party’s external work while promoting high-level opening up, Xu added.

Minister Song remarked that Hunan is a land of profound revolutionary cultural traditions, and its economic and social development has made remarkable new achievements in recent years. We hoped that Hunan, based on its own unique resource advantages, will assume new responsibilities in participating in the Party's external work. We will use inter-party communication channels to help Hunan achieve a higher level of “bringing in” and “going global”, and further accelerate the pace of high-quality development.
