The Changsha Health Commission announced the first batch of 61 designated clinics for free COVID-19 vaccination for eligible people on March 14, 2021. Changsha residents aged between 18 and 59 can receive free vaccination at these clinics. They can make a reservation in person or via calls.

"It is necessary for all eligible residents to take COVID-19 vaccines,” said an official of the commission. Almost all people are born without immunity to COVID-19 and thus susceptible to the virus. Safe and effective vaccines can provide effective immunity, and gradually build an effective immune barrier to curb wide spread of the epidemic.

Even if being vaccinated, residents are advised to maintain personal hygiene and protection. Vaccines can produce immunity and reduce risk of infection. However, no vaccine can guarantee 100 percent protection. People should not lower their guard, especially not before herd immunity has been established. 

Groups that are not suitable to receive the vaccines include pregnant women, lactating women and patients with some diseases. These patients are those in the acute stage of fever and infection, suffering from immune deficiency or immune disorder, having severe liver or kidney diseases, having uncontrolled hypertension, diabetic complications or malignant tumors.  

Experts advise to take the COVID-19 vaccines separately, with an at least two-week interval with other vacancies. Reactions after vaccinations should be carefully observed.
