The 2021 Hunan Canola Flower Festival will kick off in Shuangfeng County on March 16. It will last till April 10.

Hunan Province is a coleseed producer. The area of the provincial canola fields has been expanded from more than 16 million mu in 2010 to nearly 20 million mu in 2020. It ranks first in the country for five consecutive years. Canola industry has become a key industry to promote rural vitalization. Canola seed can be processed into edible oil and canola flowers have drawn tourist admirers.

The first Hunan Canola Flower Festival was inaugurated in Hengyang County in March 2018. The festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic for two years. This year the provincial government has approved the holding of the festival, to promote the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries; increase farmers’ income; and, accelerate rural vitalization.

The main venue is in Shangfeng County; the sub-venues are in Hengyang County, Wugang City, Dingcheng District, and Shaoshan City.

The agricultural departments will announce a number of spots to view canola flowers, hold technology promotion exhibitions, and display products. Tourists could go shopping and taste food while enjoying flowers.

Shaoshan City
--2021 Shaoshan Canola Flower Tourism Festival;
