On the morning of March 9, a theme publicity activity on building Yueyang into a national forest city and protecting the Yangtze River was held on Nanhu Square and Baling Square. Volunteers from the Yueyang Headquarters Office for the Building of a National Forest City, the Yueyang Municipal Afforestation Committee Office, the Yueyang Municipal Forestry Bureau, and the College of Journalism and Communication of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology participated. They called for the public to join in the Arbor Day events and contribute to the building of a national forest city.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the nationwide voluntary tree planting campaign, and it will be crucial and decisive for building itself into a national forest city. Volunteers distributed 4,000 leaflets to the citizens on site. Slogans and posters were set up to showcase Yueyang City’s recent afforestation efforts, focusing on President Xi Jinping’s speeches on the Arbor Day, how to participate in the 2021 "Internet + Voluntary Tree Planting", and Yueyang City’s work on building itself into a national forest city.
