Hunan delegation to the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) deliberated the draft amendments to the organic law and the procedural rules of the NPC in a panel discussion on March 8, 2021. The deliberation was livestreamed on CCTV News. This was CCTV’s second whole-process livestream of Hunan delegation deliberation after the national “Two Sessions” last year.

The deliberation was also livestreamed on other media platforms, including CCTV App and its Weibo account; news aggregators like toutiao.com, Tik Tok, Kuaishou, Baidu, Tencent, Youku, Bilibili; and, Cover News, iTouchtv, New Hunan, Hunan Daily, Mango TV, Mango Tingdao, and Rednet and its news app. More than 4.5 million views had been amassed on the day.

During the deliberation, Deputies Liu Lianyu, Liao Xiaojun, Xu Yunbo, Shi Jianhui, Wu Xinbing, Jiang Tianliang, Hu Chunlian, Xu Yuanbing, Huang He, and Gong Shuguang presented their suggestions on the draft amendments. They believed that, the amendments to the organic law and the procedural rules of the NPC would be significant to improving the system of people’s congresses and bringing the work of people’s congress in the new era into a new stage.

The livestreams of deliberation have attracted the attention of numerous netizens. In the comment sections, netizens “feel closer to the political life of our country, and have more sense of participation”. Another netizen would like to give a big thumbs-up to the deputies for their confidence and fulfillment of duties.
