Hunan NPC Delegation Holds First Plenary Meeting

The Hunan delegation to the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) held its first plenary meeting in Beijing on March 4, 2021. Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the standing committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, presided over and addressed the meeting.

Xu Dazhe was elected as the head, while Mao Weiming, Li Dianxun, Wang Cheng, and Liu Lianyu as deputy heads of the Hunan delegation. Other provincial leaders and deputies present at the meeting included Du Jiahao, Fu Kui, Wang Shaofeng, Xie Yong, Chen Wenhao, Zhang Zhuohua, Hu Weilin, Tian Hongqi, and Han Yongwen. Tian Liwen, and Ye Xiaoying were non-voting participants.

The meeting deliberated the drafts of the name list of the Presidium and the Secretary-General, and the agenda for the session. It also discussed and approved three suggestions – including the city clusters along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River into the national “14th Five-year Plan” to create new growth poles of national economy; supporting Hunan to build “Three Highlands”; and, supporting the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster to establish a national-level regional science and technology innovation center. These suggestions would be submitted to the session in the name of the Hunan delegation.
