The Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the second batch of 18 provincial-level industrial internet platforms. The energy big data platform of the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company made the list. So far, Hunan Province has 26 platforms of such kind.

These industrial internet platforms are divided into three categories – enterprise platforms; platforms for special fields and industries; and, third-party empowerment platforms. They serve various sectors, including equipment manufacturing, steel, machinery, ceramics, and energy. New business patterns, such as tailored customization, internet-powered collaboration, intelligent manufacturing, and extended services, are promoted on these platforms. 

Enterprise platforms focus on integration of enterprises’ equipment, business, and service network; and, internet-powered, flat, and platform management with data as the core.

Platforms for special fields and industries mainly serve the industries with relatively better foundations and being able to satisfy enterprises’ demands for collaborative innovation, technique and energy consumption management, and product lifecycle management.

The third-party empowerment platforms, operated by professional enterprises, provide regional resource sharing and collaboration services in design, production, software, and supply chain.

Hunan provincial government inaugurated the industrial internet platform development plan in 2019. The first batch of 8 provincial-level platforms have passed examination and been approved.
