New Undergraduate Majors Added in Hunan's Universities

The Ministry of Education recently released the overall situation of undergraduate program settings and related adjustments in 2020. Hunan’s universities have 55 newly registered majors, and 8 new ones for approval. Academic degree awarding and durations of 5 majors were adjusted, and 28 undergraduate majors were revoked.

Several of the newly registered majors are emerging ones, in response to Hunan’s demands for emerging industry personnel. Five universities have registered for the robot engineering major, including the Changsha University of Science and Technology (CSUST) and Hunan Agricultural University (Hunau). Four universities added AI-related majors, including the Hunan University (HNU) and Central South University (CSU). Three universities established digital economy major, such as the Hunan Institute of Engineering (HIE). Three universities added data science and big data technology major, such as the Xiangtan Institute of Technology. Two universities established intelligent manufacturing related majors, including the Hunan Institute of Traffic Engineering.

Beyond that, there are some fresh majors, such as intelligent agriculture, wine making, urban underground space engineering, and internet and new media.
