On February 15, the Changsha Department of Emergency Management and the Xiangjiang General Aviation Development Company jointly launched the first helicopter patrol of this year.
The helicopter patrol can discover safety problems and risks at scenic areas and expressways quickly, and organize emergency treatments as soon as possible, said Zeng Hongtao, the director of the Changsha Emergency Command Center. There are emergency equipment, and rescue and medical personnel on the helicopter. During this Spring Festival holiday, the helicopter brings buckets of water and patrols around the sites with higher potential risks from fire such as Yuelu, Weishan, and Dawei Mountains.
The Changsha Air Emergency Rescue Base was put into use last October. It is the first city-level air emergency rescue base in Hunan, marking the starting of air-ground emergency rescue services in Changsha. Supported by the base and 13 helicopter pads around the city, the rescue helicopter can arrive at the accident place in and around Changsha within 30 minutes since receiving the command.
