The photo, taken on January 11, shows farmers digging Chinese yams at an agricultural cooperative in Taiping Town, Ningyuan County. In recent years, the county has opened up more than 12,000 mu (more than 800 ha.) of wasteland, and guided farmers to plant crops that can be used as both medicine and food, such as Chinese yams and roots of kudzu vine. A number of featured agricultural brands have been developed. The products are directly supplied to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, making an annual revenue of more than 80 million CNY. The wasteland has been turned to the land of fortune, greatly benefitting the locals. (Photo/Le Shuiwang)
