On the afternoon of December 29, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China (MCT) held a teleconference on promoting the high-quality development of the cultural industry. Hu Heping, MCT CPC Leadership Group secretary and MCT minister, attended the meeting and gave a speech. Wang Xiaofeng, MCT CPC Leadership Group member, presided over the meeting.

The Hunan sub-venue is located inside the building of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Yu Xinrong, deputy director of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Publicity Department, secretary and director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism CPC Leadership Group; Liu Mingli, vice mayor of Changsha city; and, Yan Xiaomei, member of the Xiangtan Municipal People’s Government CPC Leadership Group, attended.

Relevant persons in charge of the Industrial Development Office of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism; the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, and Television; the Xiangtan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television, and Sports; the Changsha Tianxin District Cultural Industrial Park; the Xiangtan Zhaoshan Cultural Industrial Park; and, the Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, joined the meeting.

The meeting announced the first batch of national demonstration cities for culture and tourism consumption and the list of pilot cities. Changsha becomes a national demonstration city for culture and tourism consumption, and Zhuzhou and Chenzhou national pilot cities for culture and tourism consumption. In addition, Xiangtan Zhaoshan Cultural Industrial Park has been named the national-level cultural industry demonstration park, and Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park approved as the national-level cultural industry creation park.

China will support demonstration and pilot cities to adapt measures suiting local conditions, reform and innovate, and develop with their own characteristics, to promote the formation of a number of empirical models that have promoted cultural and tourism consumption, explore long-term mechanisms for stimulating cultural and tourism consumption potential, and cultivate and expand new forms and models of cultural and tourism consumption. This will promote the high-quality development of culture and tourism consumption, and help form a strong domestic market.
