On December 22, the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held a launching ceremony of Hunan’s international language environment construction campaign. The first foreign language training was organized the same time. This campaign aims to make preparation for the second China-Africa Economic and trade Expo which will be held in Hunan next year, and promote people to learn foreign languages, in a bid to build an international language environment for Hunan’s opening up and rise. 

To promote the campaign, the office collaborated with Central South University to establish the Hunan International Cultural Exchange and Language Environment Construction Center; and, jointly compile a textbook “Cece Will Do – Promoting Hunan in 500 English Sentences”. (“Ce” is a Hunan dialect which means chatting.)

The office will give trainings to Hunan’s international affairs departments, public transportation industry, and hotel reception personnel. Also, it will regularly publish textbook updates on Hunan Daily’s New Hunan App and the official website of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, to benefit more readers. Meanwhile, the textbook will be provided for some provincial departments, municipal and prefecture foreign affairs offices, residential communities, schools, and foreign trade enterprises, to boost Hunan’s international language environment construction.
