On December 20, the People’s Government of Hunan Province and the Central China Branch of State Grid Corporation of China held a discussion in Changsha. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on ensuring power supply and improving power infrastructure. Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan acting governor, attended.
Xie Jianhui, CPC Hunan Provincial Standing Committee member and executive vice governor, and Wang Qun, Hunan Provincial People’s Government secretary general, participated.
Acting Governor Mao expressed his gratitude to the State Grid Central China Branch for its long-term support to Hunan. He said that the electricity load in Hunan has increased significantly this winter, due to the continuous and stable recovery of the economy, the sharp rise in industrial power consumption, and the sudden drop in temperature. Hunan has seen a record high in winter power consumption. Faced with the severe power supply situation, Hunan has insisted on solving power shortage through multiple channels, making every effort to ensure orderly supply of power and maintain economic and social stability. Next, Hunan will continue to follow the requirements of “guaranteeing the people’s livelihood, key points, and safety”, giving priority to meeting the needs of residents’ lives, hospitals, and schools. It will guarantee the power needs of key enterprises, major industries, and important fields, to treat with the power supply peak and ensure the safety of electricity. He expected the State Grid Central China Branch to further accelerate the promotion of the “Power transported to Hunan from outside” and the construction of key power projects in Hunan, and effectively manage the demand side of power supply to ensure smooth grid operation.
Chen Xiuyan, State Grid Central China Branch deputy chief economist and director, noted that, the Central China Branch will give full play to the role of the grid hub and branch platform; coordinate cross-regional and cross-provincial power support; ensure safe operation of the grid; and make every effort to mitigate Hunan's power shortage, to strive to provide strong energy guarantee for Hunan's economic and social development.
