On December 20 morning, the return capsule of the Shenzhou-10 manned spacecraft arrived in Shaoshan, Hunan. According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, the return capsule will be displayed at the Comrade Mao Zedong Memorial Hall in Shaoshan for a long period.
On the morning of December 18, the return capsule was carefully packed at the Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and departed from Beijing.
The return capsule is held in place on a steel base frame of a flatbed transport vehicle. It is about 2.6 meters long, 2.4 meters in diameter, and weighs 2-3 tons.
There are traces of high-temperature burns on the ash-black honeycomb outer layer of the capsule. When it returned to the earth, it had violent friction with the atmosphere, which required high heat-resistant performance to withstand severe test of thousands of degrees Celsius.
