Acting Governor Mao Meets with NBS, China Railway Leaders

Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan acting governor, led a delegation to hold work talks with Ning Jizhe, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) deputy director and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) director, and Lu Dongfu, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) board chairman, in Beijing on December 15, 2020.

Xie Jianhui, CPC Hunan Provincial Standing Committee member and executive vice governor, and Wang Qun, Hunan Provincial People’s Government secretary general, attended.

During the meeting with NBS, Acting Governor Mao said that Hunan has implemented the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech made when inspecting Hunan; carried forward the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council; practised the “three highlands and four new missions” strategy; and, strived to build a modern new Hunan with progressing and stable economic and social development. He expected NBS to keep supporting and assisting Hunan; offer advice on Hunan’s economic development; guide Hunan to improve statistical methods and systems and carry out comprehensive performance evaluation of high-quality development; and, build a statistical evaluation system on establishing “three highlands”, so as to boost Hunan's high-quality development.

Director Ning believed that Hunan's economic and social development has achieved remarkable results in recent years, especially this year, it has achieved double victories in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. NBS will strengthen cooperation with Hunan in an all-round way; support Hunan's statistical modernization; adhere to legal, authentic, efficient, and timely statistics; and, help to implement the “three highlands and four new mission” strategy in Hunan.

When talking with the China Railway, Acting Governor Mao noted that, the reform and development of Hunan railway construction has achieved remarkable results during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, thanks to China Railway’s support and guidance. Building a modern three-dimensional transportation system with priority on high-speed railways, is an important support for Hunan's implementation of the “three highlands and four new missions” strategy. He hoped that China Railway will further increase investment in Hunan; support the plan to include Hunan’s railway projects into the national railway mid- and long-term development plan; and, strengthen the guarantee of electricity and coal transportation capacity into Hunan.

Chairman Lu remarked that Hunan has obvious transportation advantages and a strong development momentum. In recent years, its railway construction scale and quality have been in the forefront of China. China Railway will enhance support in railway planning and transportation service guarantees; accelerate the launch and advancement of a number of major railway projects; and, promote the high-quality development of Hunan, he added.
