The 2020 Hunan (Chenzhou) Vegetable and Fruit Industry Expo concluded on December 7. Chenzhou contracted 38 key agricultural projects, worth nearly 16.8 billion CNY.
The five-day expo, formerly the Hunan (Chenzhou) Featured Agricultural Products Expo, aims to facilitate agricultural product trade and agricultural cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hunan, and also promote Chenzhou’s vegetables and fruits.
In recent years, Hunan has established a vegetable brand – “Xiangjiangyuan (origin of the Xiangjiang River)” which matches with the “Vegetable Basket” project of the Greater Bay Area. A number of high-quality vegetable plantations have been built mainly in Yongzhou, Chenzhou, and Hengyang, to supply pollution-free and high-quality vegetables to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. So far, the “Xiangjiangyuan” brand has 110 certificated pollution-free vegetables, 65 organic agricultural products, and 9 geographical indication (GI) vegetable products. It has 162,000 mu (about 10,805 ha.) of 176 plantations directly supplying vegetables to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

A “Xiangjiangyuan” brand promotion conference, also a promotion of the agricultural brands favored by the Greater Bay Area consumers, was held during the expo. Some activities were organized to present the “Xiangjiangyuan” brand and production bases of Chenzhou’s integration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries; and recommend six Hunan cities (prefecture)’s agricultural products supplying to the Greater Bay Area.
Nearly 10,000 products attracted numerous consumers. A total of 287,000 visits
were made, and a group of key projects were contracted. The trade volume at the
expo reached 583 million CNY.
