December 1, 2020 is the 33rd “World AIDS Day”. It has the theme “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility”. On that date, Changsha Customs held a “World AIDS Day” Open Laboratory Day at the Hunan International Travel Health Care Center. It was noted that with increased opening up, the risk of cross-border infection also increases, and greater prevention measures are needed.
Since 2019, Changsha Customs has detected infectious diseases such as chikungunya fever and dengue fever in entry personnel at Hunan ports. As of October of this year, Customs inspected 276,700 persons entering, or exiting, at the Changsha and Zhangjiajie Airports. This number includes the Temporary Changde Airport Port in Hunan. They have insisted on normalizing epidemic prevention and control work, effectively preventing the import of overseas epidemics.
A Changsha Customs Health Department spokesperson noted that winter is the season with high elevated influenza and other respiratory infectious disease cases. People prefer indoor activities and stay indoors longer times. This increases the risk of spreading infectious diseases.
Changsha Customs reminds Chinese citizens who have applied to leave the country for more than one year and Chinese employees working in internationally-operated transportation should possess a valid health check certificate containing AIDS test results. Foreigners who apply for residence in China should go to the customs-designated agency to undergo a physical examination. Afterwards they should go to the public security organ to go through residence formalities with a valid health examination certificate containing AIDS test results. At present, some foreign countries, units, and schools may require nucleic acid test results for those leaving China to resume employment or schooling. Outbound travelers should pay close attention to these requirements.
