Consumers can learn the place of origin of agricultural products simply by scanning a QR code. Edible agricultural products at Haijixing Market, Better Life Supermarket, Hema Shengxian, an emerging online-to-offline supermarket by Alibaba, and other markets in Changsha will be provided with a qualification certificate for edible agricultural products.

Changsha held a morning signing ceremony for the production and marketing of farm foods on May 25. Producers such as Hunan Xiangyi Huitang Duck Industry Co., Ltd. and distributors including Metro reached an agreement on production and marketing.

Changsha will lead the province in launching a trial certificate system for comestibles, exploring a new management mode that integrates qualification certificate, “ID card”, and quality tracing, and strictly regulating agricultural products from “field to table” and their market access, in an effort to ensure food safety.

The Changsha Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Changsha Administration for Market Regulation, Changsha announced a trial certificate system for agricultural comestibles across the city by the end of June. Categories include vegetables, fruit, livestock and poultry products, eggs and farmed aquatic products. The participating entities include the city's agricultural food producers, specialized farmer cooperatives, family farms, leisure farms, agricultural product wholesale markets, farmers' markets, urban stores and supermarkets, schools, catering units, and agricultural product outlets. Individual farmers are encouraged to participate.
