The 2019 New Year holiday lasts from December 30, 2018 to January 1, 2019. The Hunan Expressway Group announced on December 26 that expressway tolls will not be suspended during the period. The number of vehicles on Hunan expressways is estimated to be 5.92 million, an increase of 3% over last year.
More vehicles will be seen from 16:00 to 21:00 on December 29 (the day before the holiday). Rush hours will last from 9:00 to 11:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 on December 30 and 31. The travel peak is expected to last from 17:00 to 20:00 on January 1, 2019.
It is estimated that the top five toll stations with the largest traffic flow during the three-day holiday will be the West Changsha, Changsha, Xueshi, Yuhua, and Zhuzhou toll stations.
Several new expressways have been opened to traffic ahead of this year’s New Year holiday, which will provide more travel options for drivers.
