Jia Yifan Wins Hunan's First Gold at Paris 2024 Olympics

On August 3, Hunan athlete Jia Yifan and her partner Chen Qingchen claimed the badminton women's doubles gold medal, the first gold for Hunan athletes at the Paris Olympics. Jia and Chen beat their compatriots Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning 22-20, 21-15 in the final.


The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government sent a congratulatory message to the Chinese delegation and Jia Yifan. 


"You have won immense glory for the country and people, and we extend warm congratulations to the Chinese delegation and Jia Yifan, and heartfelt compliments to all the athletes, coaches, and working staff of the Paris Olympics," read the message.


The message also extended sincere gratitude to the General Administration of Sports and the Chinese badminton team for their care and support to Hunan's sports undertakings, wishing that the Chinese sports delegation would achieve good results at the Olympics.


Chen Qingchen (1st, R) and Jia Yifan (2nd, R) beat their compatriots Liu Shengshu (1st, L) and Tan Ning in the final.
