The 10th Conference of Provincial Capital Cities Along Middle Reaches of Yangtze River will take place in Changsha between July 28 and 29, according to a press conference of the Changsha Municipal People's Government held on July 24.

The first conference was held in Wuhan in 2013. Since then, the session has been held annually, except in exceptional circumstances, with Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei, and Nanchang serving as the rotating hosts. This year is the third time for Changsha to host the conference, marking the first offline meeting after the epidemic.

The theme of the conference is "Join Hands to Cultivate New Quality Productive Forces and Promote High-quality Development of Central China". Besides the four provincial capital cities, 12 observation cities will be invited to participate in the event, including Huangshi, Yueyang, Anqing, Jiujiang, Huanggang, Zhuzhou, Tongling, Fuzhou, Xianning, Xiangtan, Lu'an, and Yichun.

An agreement on 2024 key cooperation matters among city clusters along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and a framework agreement on police affairs cooperation among four provincial capital cities along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River are scheduled to be signed during the conference. Under the agreements, cooperation will be deepened in such fields as infrastructure connectivity, market integration, industrial coordination, facilitation of logistics and passenger flow, joint prevention and treatment of ecological environment, and sharing of public services. A total of 63 major cooperation matters in six aspects will be rolled out to further promote high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

An exchange meeting on the cooperation of the chip industry among city clusters along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River will be held, focusing on collaboration and sharing of innovative platforms, talents, and equipment in the field of semiconductor among the four provincial capital cities. The aim is to promote cooperation and exchanges in the chip design industry among the city clusters.

A number of important cooperation agreements have been signed over the past 11 years, including "Wuhan Consensus", "Changsha Declaration", "Hefei Outline", "Nanchang Action", and "Action Plan on Cooperation Among Provincial Capital Cities in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River". City clusters along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River are increasingly becoming an important support for the rise of central China. The economic aggregate of the four provincial capital cities increased from more than 2.4 trillion CNY in 2013 to over 5.4 trillion CNY in 2023.
